Recap: Admittedly, when faced against a notorious gangbanger the likes of Geechi Gotti, one couldn’t help but think that a vet like Shotgun Suge would transition a bit away from the movie reference lines and queries on what his opponent’s ‘life’s like’ that he’s known for, instead for more witty barbs (something’s Suge is more than capable of) and personals that reflected his own street aptitude. And while Suge did manage to bring a versatile dish of gun-laced darts, raucous bully bars, performance-heavy (including a noted pocket tap) shiners and gritty punchlines/name flips, against what was a Gotti that overall was on his B+ game (mostly due to long-winded rounds), Suge who’s often noted for being condensed, might’ve had a win here if he’d changed his strategy a bit. Instead, including a rebuttal game that included a rousing chest tap in round 2, fierce punchlines, fiery comeback’s for Suge’s slogans, steely gang speak, potent gun bars and notable yarns on real-life street drama, helped in part by Suge struggling with his flow a bit throughout the battle while cutting both his 2nd and 3rd rounds short, it’s Gotti for the 30.
Verdict: Geechi Gotti (W) 3-0
Favorite line: Geechi Gotti – “I’m a street nigga, you can’t tell me that the block ain’t mine, ‘cuz you nigga’s like to argue over time limits, my nigga’s doing bids, really wishing somebody stop they time!”
