Recap: Considering all the brouhaha that’s gone into one man, John John Da Don, building up a rivalry by himself against an entire battle rap collective (The Goonies), one can understand JJDD being a little sensitive and not allowing Nu Jerey Twork to tag in his bro Jakkboy Maine to kick some bars in that 3rd round. But as a battle rap vet and rapping in an age where tag-ins have become all too common, the feeling here is that John John should’ve just let it go. Either way (and near brawl aside), outside of a strong 2nd round from JJDD (who while versatile with the bars, was wildly inconsistent throughout the match) that made the round close (tho Twork with more haymakers still edged it here) this URL/Resolution battle was all Nu Jerooz as the Goonie capo’s gritty idioms, raucous/mocking personals (funny how Twork even predicted that John John would do strip bar scheme), ripping sound effects, stifling gun bars, a fire ‘multiple choice’ scheme of his own and bruising punchlines just never let up. Indeed, Twork, in one of his most consistent showings, just stayed on his opponent’s neck with such clear confidence throughout the battle that he was even dished a couple of rare, but solid rebuttals…all without his signature ‘Strapped In!’ move. That said, give that man the 30.
Verdict: Nu Jerzey Twork (W) 3-0
