Recap: Not sure how wise it was for Tay Roc to go out of his way and invite a Philly crowd to his nether regions after they cheered him for most of the battle and only did so after he took shots at one of their own (in this Cassidy), but Roc vs Geechi Gotti was still a dope battle all the way through. The 1st round was spitfire on both sides with an amped up Roc dropping a gang of versatile and elite bangers via syrupy gun bars, righteous boasts, fiery set-ups/sound effects and sizzling wordplay. On the other hand, while a slightly more condensed Gotti would devote most of his opening round to personals, he was still able to dish haymaker after haymaker centering around the brouhaha that occurred in the recent Summer Madness 10 matchup between Calicoe/Murda Mook vs. Brizz Rawsteen/T Top to edge what will surely go down as one of the best rounds in 2019. As for the rest of the battle? Pretty solid, but the advantage was clearly on Roc’s side as it became more apparent that Geechi didn’t have as much to work with outside of the previous themes on his opponent’s street credibility and his usual barrage of punch-heavy street semantics. And while Gottu was still competitive for the rest of the battle, Roc would take up Geechi’s lack of variety, spitting a fire rebuttal to start the 2nd round, going after Gotti with more salacious personals/wordplay/schemes, extending the clip with more heated gun bars, flexing with fierce 4-bar setups and spouting ever-increasing mayhem to make a comeback, edge the latter couple of rounds and take the win.
Verdict: Tay Roc (W) 2-1
