Recap: As expected, Chilla Jones versus Rum Nitty turned out to be an incredible battle with all the booming haymakers, ringing gun bars, stinging (Chilla: “I’m a gun fanatic, follow the guidelines of Chill, if you Rum, then I’m vodka that’s five times the steel [distill]!”) punchlines, fiery schemes and stunted wordplay one could ask for during 3 highly competitive rounds. Ironically, while some might call it fitting that this bout ends up as a draw (we’re calling the 1st round debatable before Chilla took the 2nd and Rum took the 3rd), one can’t help but think that as electric as Rum was with his crafty bag of righteous heat, performance-heavy zingers and sublime punches, with the history of these two former Writer’s Bloque members, Rum choosing to pass up on almost any personals (as opposed to Chilla, who went there quite frequently with some hilarious effect) could’ve made a difference between winning. No knock really on Run as personals aren’t his forte, but still. Then too Chilla, a rapper’s rapper, but long known for elongated rounds, may’ve won this battle here if he was able to keep his final round a little more condensed. Nonetheless, when two top tiers go at it like this, you can be sure that you got your money’s worth.
Verdict: TIE
Favorite line: Rum Nitty – “You don’t got it this nice, you can see the effect when I punch like a comic book fight!”
