Recap: If the URL wants to change its format on building newcomers, they might want to tap into both sides of the table, instead of one. In other words, while last year’s Crucible winner, NWT, has certainly warranted moving up the chain of more seasoned battlers, judging from Quban’s perspective here, it’s pretty clear that the former Goonie didn’t share the same feelings on facing his opponent, esp. considering all the work he’s done put in for Smack (my suggestion, why not test NXT’s moxie against a rarely seen vet like an M. Ciddy or Quest Mcody instead). Nonetheless, still a dope battle between the two here with a lot of lyrical stunting displayed on both sides to go along with plenty of mayhem, stifling wordplay and piercing punchlines/personals. The angle-lit (extra performance points on pulling out Quban’s “old vest”) and slightly punch-heavier NXT edges rounds 1, before the fledging West-coast spitter ups his bar proficiency and scores with more than enough haymakers (and a spitfire mid-round rebuttal) to also take 2 for the win. 3rd round was another spirited and crazy one that saw both battlers equally lit, thus forcing a debatable turn.
Verdict: NXT *W) 2-1
Favorite line: NXT – “3am, overnight shift, trying to maintain bars, Remember the Titms, I ran practice through a graveyard!”
