Recap: Ave versus Tay Roc, a much-anticipated matchup that probably should’ve taken place in front of an East-coast crowd (instead of Summer Madness 13 in Houston), comes with what you’d expect in terms of bars, punches and finally finding out why Ave left Cave Gang (well, according to Ave anyway). Roc with the witty personals, plethora of dope ‘EFB’ flips, pretty solid name flips, rapid-fire ‘AMG mode’ darts and piercing gun bars, came to work. While Ave (who clearly took this battle more personally than his opponent did throughout) came with his usual assortment of rich boasts, fierce name flips of his own, fiery punchlines and storied personals that while a little excessive, for the most part made their point (esp. in round 3). Close for all 3 rounds with plenty of head-nodding by both battlers to show favor of certain standout bars and to let everyone know that there wasn’t any animosity between the two, it’s the more haymaker-lit Roc who takes round 1 before also taking a more efficiently run round 2 for the win. An equally methodical, entertaining and punch-heavy 3rd makes for a debateable.
