Recap: From We Go Hard, after getting Chef Trez recently, WGH’s Gunpowder Patt gets an even bigger dawg in Tay Roc for 3 rounds in Brooklyn. And frankly speaking, this battle was a little underwhelming as no disrespect to GP, but considering Roc’s long-held top tier status in battle rap, you’d be more inclined to see his WGH debut against the likes of an always competitive Ish Mula or fellow gun bar enthusiast Dougy. Then too is the fact that while GP is well-known for his eager aggression and street wit during battles, all them bumps and touches he was giving Roc in the opening rounds were really being extra and seemingly making it more about showmanship than trying to actually win the battle (until round 3 anyway, when Patt put it together performance and bar-wise to force a debatable there). That said Roc, even while not quite on his A-game throughout, still scored with more than enough rich gun lines, gritty punchlines and solid name flips to take rounds 1 and 2 for the win.
Verdict: Tay Roc (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Tay Roc – “Incredible, you ain’t on my pedestal, unacceptable, his battle is proof that I be making myself too accessible, but I’ll put you on a shirt than buy one if they sell a few, then save it like the one’s like yours, I got collectibles!”
