Against The Grain is a battle rap recap and rankings blogs. The opinions shared here are the individual opinion of the author and are based solely on the battle itself. Wins, losses, ties and debatable’s are all decided on a formula that takes into account, but is not limited to the amount of haymakers, preparation, strength of bars, lyricism, originality, cohesion and versatility.
ALL battles are judged using the same formula and are viewed at least TWICE.
While Against The Grain does NOT have any relationship with the URL (Ultimate Rap League), since it is widely accepted that the URL is the preeminent battle rap league worldwide, this blog is intended for the purpose of reviewing battlers who have battled on URL at least ONCE.
Against The Grain is a recap blog for one-on-one matches only. This blog does not recap two-on-two battles, 3-ways or handicap matches. In order to qualify for the rankings on Against The Grain, battlers must also have at LEAST 20 solo battles.
With the exception of Compliment battles and in respect to authenticity, if it’s confirmed by BOTH battlers who participated in a battle that they rehearsed their bars together beforehand or it is widely accepted that the battle was compromised (verified do-overs or problems with editing), said battle will NOT be recapped by ATG.
