Recap: From Spittaz League, 1-rounder features strong, punch-heavy and boastful/mayhem-laced performances from both Hollaluyah Jones and Amazing D Boy. But it’s the more versatile, witty, metaphor-rich and consistently hitting Jones who gets the win.

Xcel defeats Amazin D Boy

Recap: With Amazing D Boy it’s usually a matter of his bars matching his yelling and agrression and in round 1 he was able so with enough dope wrodplay that he was even able to bring “Dawson’s Creek” into the battle and get away with it. Too bad for D Boy his first round was as good as it got, thereby allowing Xcel to step up his bar (“Try to pull my card, and get the hand like nigga deal with that”) game, retake the lead and easily get the win with an exquisite and crowd-pleasing 3rd.

Recap: Dishing mostly personals with an equal amount of potent (“You’d probably want to jail for the fuck of it!”) wit and forthright, Jai scores a 3-0 over a severely lacking in intricacy and a bit unprepared Amazin D Boy.

Bill Collector defeats Amazin D Boy

Synopsis: Besides Hitman Holla is there a better performer than Bill Collector? In this highly intense (I swear Amazin D Boy was spazzing so hard you wouldn’t be blamed for worrying that he might pop a blood vessel mid-round) and entertaining battle, these two go toe-to-toe with BC styling on ADB’s aesthetics: “They got me battling one of the niggas from Pretty Ricky”; Amazin goes after BC’s Pennsylvania roots and personal dealings: “Take your girl around the world, show her tricks like a Globetrotter”. It’s all bananas and crowd pleasers throughout, but BC edged it with more consistently nicer bars and a stronger overall performance.

Verdict: Bill Collector (W) OT

Favorite line: Bill Collector – “Sick of these noodles, get to your Google, ask Michael Vick what’s a pit to a poodle?”
