Chef Trez defeats Crash

Recap: Whether it’s superb written’s, rebuttals or freestyle’s, as he does again here in this Deathwish Battle League battle against Crash, Chef Trez can make it all look so easy. This time Trez using a variety of steely punchlines, stinging name flips, flashy gun bars and a boatload of nasty off-the-dome heat (esp. in the latter freestyle rounds) to handily (Chef took the first 5 rounds while the 6th was debatable) beat back a gritty throughout and solid punching, but unforced error prone and not nearly as freestyle-lit Crash.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 5-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “I never turned down any pressure, nigga’s know I’m extra, I’m like the homie that never got weed…I’m willing to smoke whatever!”

However, when he wasn’t supplying a bunch of off-the-dome tutorials to show you how it’s really done, Chef Trez’s spicy mix of fiery gun lines, scheming punchlines and head-shaking set-ups/name flips are more than enough to earn the 3-0.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “Y’all gave a lame to me, this ain’t even something y’all could explain to me, only JD that put in work in Atlanta was Jermaine DuPri!”

Chef Trez defeats Zay Smoove

Recap: The irony of Zay Smoove talking up Chef Trez’s rebuttal game so much in round 1 and Trez only utilizing one or two the entire battle shouldn’t be lost here. As in this 3-rounder from GOTG, Trez puts aside the off-the-dome zingers and instead dishes a steady barrage of fiery gun bars, festive name flips, graphic mayhem and rich set-ups/punchlines to, despite a solid showing from his sometimes longwinded opponent, earn the 30.

Chef Trez defeats Suni Talynt

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “They say the early bird get the worm first, but a desert eagle get the fucking opps!”

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “I get the mill and clean house like a single parent!”

C Double defeats Chef Trez

Recap: Gotta come clean on these Verbal War Battles and despite having some harder bars overall, Chef Trez’s inability to ride the beats better than his gritty, name flip/mayhem-rich and uber-confident opponent C Double costs him the win in the latter two rounds after a debatable 1st.

Verdict: C Double (W) 2-1

Favorite line: C Double – “Look at the Chef, mill got him frightened, make the wrong move I’ll air him firing!”

Chef Trez defeats Celly Cell

Recap: From LetsTalkAboutIt Tv, gritty, gun bar-blazing and impressive showing here from Celly Cell (esp. that ‘Get 30 with a .40, that shot kill more nobodies than Dre Dennis’ line in a debatable round 1). Verdict: TIE

Favorite line: O-Red – “I’ll throw a left hook that’ll floor a pup, then the four will bust, head shot, ringing a Chef bell like ‘Order up!'”

Chef Trez defeats Chuck Book

Recap: In what turned out to be a stirring and competitive 3-rounder brought to you from Gates of the Garden, Chuck Book dishing off enough gritty and sometimes witty lines to make for a debatable 3rd round. Indeed, as seen here against rising female battle rap star Blve Cocaine, the Chef dishes out 2 minutes of exquisite mayhem, fierce names flips, stinging 4-bar set-ups and piercing personals/punchlines with ease, beating back a solid, angle-savvy turn by his opponent that while also penetrating with the visuals, overall still lacked the potency of the Chef’s more versatile composition.

Still, outside of a 1st round that Trez was able to equate in potency thanks in part to his ability to dish 3 of them thangs, an almost flawless, versatile, punch-crazy, racially transparent and off-the-dome superior 2nd round by Charron got him the lead in the battle, before a just-as-crazy 3rd round with near the amount of robust bars as the previous one won him the battle while at the same time beating back two pretty solid and rebuttal happy, but not quite as consistent turns by Trez.

Chef Trez defeats Mark Anthony

Recap: Real solid effort from Mark Anthony who came with a host of piercing punchlines and rich self-depreciating bars to stay competitive in the first two rounds before struggling with his flwo and having to shorten his 3rd. But Chef Trez being Chef Trez, with a host of sizzling gun bars, fire rebuttals and rapidly hitting punches still takes this one, pretty handily.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “But on the other hand, what I’m squeezing sick, it’s a big 9 like…what you been feeding it?!”

Quantum Physics defeats Chef Trez

Recap: Forgive us for wishing the likes of Chef Trez versus 1st-timer-to-RBE Quantum Physics could happen on a big stage (and maybe one day it will) instead of a 1-round Social Distance battle. But in some abnormal times, you have to take whatever you can get. And both QP and the Chef still showed up with the latter dishing plenty of resident heat, some spitfire punches and fiery requisite name flips, while a wordplay-spazzing, pointed, punch-lit and performance-heavy QP made for a crazy dope debut. That said, with a little less filler in a battle that was pretty equal on haymakers, the edge here goes to QP.

Verdict: Quantum Physics (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Quantum Physics – “He got a extra round in the funeral home for trying to rebuttal in the casket!”

Chef Trez defeats Cosmo Kessler

Recap: Even during a pandemic, the Chef be out here cooking. This time using prolific gun bars, stunted vet talk, a couple of flexing rebuts and some fierce wordplay/punchlines to beat a pretty solid punching, but not as consistent with his handle Cosmo Kessler in this 3-rounder from 15 Minutes of Fame.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “I blaze guns, Trae Young, I’ll shoot as soon as I cross the line!”

Chef Trez defeats Ghostt

Recap: That “Pillow on the barrel, just to keep the baby quiet!” line by Ghostt was extra mean and the confident up-n-comer also impressed here with a boatload fly rebuttals, dope punchlines, an ability to freestyle, a gang of daunting gun bars and quality personals (against Trez as well as battlers within his home league). That said, another element of being a top tier vet is never taking your opponent for granted. And the Chef makes sure not to do so here, taking away any chance of an upset with his own barrage of spitfire rebuttals, fierce name flips, some fine wordplay, an armory of head-swinging gun bars and enough hard-hitting punchlines to take rounds 1 and 2 before his less punch-heavy, but more versatile opponent earned a debatable 3rd.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “My dog’s say you got a thousand flips for the nigger’s name, I said shit I would have zero if his dumb ass ain’t pick the name!”

Holmzie Da God defeats Chef Trez

Recap: Not sure why a mostly mayhem-dishing, fiery and name flip-spazzing Holmzie Da God would also go after Chef Trez’s rebuttal game as it takes a special skill to rebuttal and the Chef is one of the best at it. But other than one questionable angle and a slow start to both his 1st round (which he lost) and his 3rd (which he won), it’s a flexing and top-notch showing by Holmzie, who takes advantage of a bit of a lazy pen/flow from the usually more consistent Trez to out-punch and out-perform his opponent in the latter rounds for the win.

Verdict: Holmzie Da God (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Holmzie Da God – “I pull it out, the mag clap, you better duck, Aflac, a small cap will leave this brim bit like a dad hat!”

Chef Trez defeats Danja Zone

Recap: In this Black Ice Cartel battle versus Chef Trez, noted puncher Danja Zone turns it up a bit and grinds hard enough to force a debatable 3rd round. But before that, too many dated bars/schemes by Zone as well as punchlines that were a little meh at times obscure an otherwise solid showing. Then too, with the Chef dishing more consistent mayhem, gritty punchlines, fiery name flips, a couple of fire rebuttals and genuflecting gun bars at random during the 1st and 2nd, this battle was already was already in the bag before the final round.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “I would say we could line it up in the streets, but I know you don’t trust that, so we could do a cage fight, fuck rap, jab, hook then let a knee in Zone…touchback!”

Chef Trez defeats A. Ward

Recap: In addition to A. Ward supplying a just-as-fire rebuttal game, a versatile and punch-heavy Chef Trez has his work cut out for him for the first two rounds in lieu of the Christian rapper also dishing a host of fiery punchlines, witty barbs, jaunty name flips and some stinging mayhem to match his opponent’s potency and points on the scoreboard. But after the two battlers split the opening rounds, helped a bit by Ward’s solid, but 1/3rd pontificating and filler-bent turn, it’s a still cogent with the punchlines, gun bar swinging and fly with the schemes/punches Trez who takes the deciding 3rd for the win.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “Who cold as this?, no matter where I go my opponent’s get slaughtered, I haven’t seen a person this year who went harder, so fuck talking about who pen harder, ‘cuz I write nothing but nice shit…like a kid’s author!”

Chef Trez defeats Swav

Recap: Chef Trez had to earn this one as Sway’s gritty trap talk and piercing punchlines not only made their mark, but kept him in the battle throughout. However, a couple of nice rebuttals in the opening rounds, along with some fierce wordplay, a boatload of stinging punches, ill similes/personals and a bunch of ever-reliable and visceral gun bars, allows the Chef to edge the opening rounds before a slightly punch-heavier 3rd by Swav kept Trez from pitching another shutout.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “You supposed to be on URL with me representing the South, you heard that?, I should backhand you for leaving me hanging…give you your Smack!”

Chef Trez defeats Snake Eyez

Recap: Open question: when Chef Trez does a 1-round battle, how much does his opponent’s chances of winning go up, knowing that if Trez loses the coin flip, they can take away his rebuttal game by picking him to go first? An opponent confident enough in his pen would probably disagree, but I’d say it does. That said, putting aside the crowd-pleasing moment of Brizz Rawsteen coming to the stage just as the ever brazen Snake Eyez just happened to mention his name, there really wasn’t much to see here as even without the ability to dish any of them thangs, assisted by Snake starting his round off strong before it became too Tay Roc-centered (and lyrically subpar towards the end), a way more versatile, gun bar-slinging, punch/wordplay-heavy, personal-lit and consistent Trez takes this one easy.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “And you could miss me with the stories about how you was eating in jail, ‘cuz I was locked in like a SIM card, calling shit, the most important piece in a cell!”

Chef Trez defeats Shotgun Suge

Recap: Proving himself able to handle the big stage, but not really really wilding out on the eccentric gun bars, punchlines and rebuttals like we’re used to seeing, a B+ overall Chef Trez still manages to out punch and edge a rambunctious throughout, but less potent for the first couple of rounds Shotgun Suge. And while the Jersey rapper, performance-heavy throughout with a nice dunk on the whole Cave Gang midway in the 2nd, was able to put forth enough consistent darts to make the 3rd round debatable, besides getting beat by his opponent’s more potent display of lyricism, Suge’s inability to take full advantage of his own angle’s and personals hurt him here as well.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “He think he could kill with the post moves?!, he’s wilding, pull a box out, I’m rebounding, machete, Hack a Shaq like I keep fouling!”
