40 B.A.R.R.S. defeats KD

Recap: A couple of minor stumbles midway, but in this 1-rounder from One Shot Battle League 40 B.A.R.R.S.’s steady use of fire punchlines, witty personals, stifling wordplay and sturdy name flips combine to overcome any miscues and earn the win over a pretty solid, but way too fanned out KD.

Verdict: 40 B.A.R.R.S. (W) 1-0

Favorite line: 40 B.A.R.R.S. – “I’m not saying a bitch playing you is a reason to be giving jokes, but when you was in recovery trying to sit calm [sitcom] she was getting different strokes [ Diff’rent Strokes]!”

Yung Griz defeats KD

Recap: In this competitive 3-rounder from The Riot Network, KD unloads a bunch of lines testing Yung Griz’s street cred while also scoring with a gang of fiery punches. However, besides a minor 2nd round hiccup (which forced a debatable there), Griz displays nary a misstep, all the while using fierce name flips, rigid sports bars, boastful barbs, witty/hard-hitting personals and a plethora of piercing punchlines to take rounds 1 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: Yung Griz (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Yung Griz – “My vibes is based on your temperature…it’s like a moodring!”

Chef Trez defeats KD

Recap: Competitive 1-rounder from Smoke Room Battle League sees both Chef Trez and KD deliver fiery performances that were matched by plenty of piercing punchlines/ However, a more wordplay-heavy, mayhem-rich and slightly more versatile Trez earns the win despite going first and not being able to drop any rebuttals (a fact that was hilariously noted by KD after the coin toss).

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “This a horror movie, this round I brought was sick, I’ve been writing fire, Michael Myers off the jump you know I’m cut for this!”

KD defeats Danny Myers

Recap: Some dope wordplay and residual boasts from Danny Myers here and there, doesn’t take away from one too many pedestrian punches from the Bar God over the course of this battle nor a slightly punch-heavier, message-oriented and personal-driven KD landing with a higher ratio of heat in both the 1st and the deciding 3rd round to edge the win here in this tight 3-rounder from STL Street Report.

Verdict: KD (W) 2-1

Favorite line: KD –  “You can’t be on ya high horse if ya life is in an unstable position!”

JC defeats KD

Recap: Rarely lacking for confidence and pulling a vet move by mostly staying away from the what would have been easy name flips, JC spits a gang of spitfire braggadocios lines, potent gun bars and righteous punchlines to take rounds 1 plus 3 and beat a very solid KD, a St. Louis battler who used a wide variety of loaded wordplay, nice set-ups and hitting personals/punchlines to stay in the mix, before a spicy storytelling, but hit-n-miss turn and JC’s comeuppance in the deciding final round eventually did him in.

Verdict: JC (W) 2-1

Favorite line: JC – “If your soul gets snatched in a battle with me, only I can give it back, so don’t come here expecting no Black Panther flip from me…nigga, what kind of shit!”

Hitman Holla defeats KD

Recap: This one-rounder between a couple of St. Louis spitters with a $1K on the line and Goodz hosting sees Hitman Holla use a barrage of gritty punchlines to make easy work of a slip-up prone KD.

Verdict: Hitman Holla (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Hitman Holla – “Don’t get me mad, I’m big-timing, strapped up, I’m big .9-ing. they find ya ass in the woods like you ziplining!”
