Saflare Sole and Kyd Slade [DEBATABLE]

Recap: Fire battle from URL’s N.O.M.E. 14 card with both Kyd (“Who want war with me?, get clapped in a venue for all to see, and have your whole team behind you screaming while I shoot…shit look like a corner 3!”) Slade and Saflare Sole delivering the goods on gritty punchlines, fire trap talk, rigid set-ups, solid name flips, righteous darts, explosive gun bars and boastful barbs. And while a way more potent and haymaker-lit Saflare clearly took round 2, the other two rounds remained tight and competitive with the slightly more condensed and efficient Slade edging round 1, before an equally spicy and action-filled 3rd calls for this ending up as a debatable.

Verdict: TIE

Favorite line: Saflare Sole – “The problem is these nigga’s think they larger than life, but life is cheap when desperation meets the bargaining price!”

Rum Nitty defeats Kyd Slade

Recap: From URL’s Traffic 6 card, extra amped getting to battle in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, Rum Nitty unleashes a trio of fire rounds that bar-wise ran the gamut from stinging punchlines to fiery gun bars to witty personals/roasting sessions to a gritty mix of dope name flip innuendo’s versus a pretty solid punching overall, but too often pedestrian Kyd Slade. The unanimous 3-0 decision in favor of the more haymaker-lit Rum Nitty here allowing “The Alien” to not only put on an exquisite show in front of fans upclose, but get off a shot at Smack for that controversial Footz battle.

Verdict: Rum Nitty (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Rum Nitty – “You not exempt, they ain’t want me to take this at all fam, Nitty don’t lose to a snitch, it ain’t a smart plan, he a marked man, the last nigga’s couldn’t make a comeback after getting drugged, what makes you think a narc can?!”

Kyd Slade defeats Cortez

Recap: Heavily dishing with a gang of sterling trap talk, witty personals/anecdotes, fiery gun bars and dope 4-bar set-up/punchlines with relative ease, while also unleashing a plethora of crazy similes throughout this gritty 3-rounder, Kyd Slade puts aside all the recent outside noise, while reminding everyone on how he became one of URL’s top rising stars in the first place, while beating back and out-finessing a gun bar-toting, righteous at times and competitive, but much less steady/sturdy Cortez.

Verdict: Kyd Slade (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Kyd Slade – “They literally had to watch a nigga do the white girl filthy, No Jumper!”

Shotgun Suge defeats Kyd Slade

Recap: After that epic Tay Roc battle, there was much intrigue surrounding who, where and when Kyd Slade would be battling next. Coupled with that too was just how believable Slade’s notorious ‘plug talk’ would come off on a URL stage that’s well known for being on ‘real nigga time’. Well, after witnessing 3 rounds here from this ‘Redemption 2’ card matchup vs. Shotgun Suge, the results were for the most part to be expected. The Connecticut battler addressing the ‘snitch’ allegations head-on in round 1 while thanking the fans that have stuck by him throughout this drama, throwing a few shots at Roc as well as a bowlful of gritty trap talk and sick street rhymes that often lit up the scoreboard. And that combo might have been enough to beat the off-again/on-again Suge from a few years back, but not the slender Jersey bruiser that’s up there today. Shotgun getting busy throughout this battle with a gang of flexing punchlines while doubling down on the ‘rat’ accusations with some killer punches, spicy real like talk and his own plate of hard street lines and bullish bars which with the help of Slade speaking a bit too much the statement stuff in both the 1st and 2nd rounds, led to Suge taking both of the opening rounds for the win before a debatable 3rd.

Verdict: Shotgun Suge (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Shotgun Suge – “You play with 12, leading in all-time assists like John Stickton!”

Tay Roc defeats Kyd Slade

Recap: Funny watching emotionally biased bloggers recap this battle and steer their conclusions to their liking regardless of who really out-rapped who. Because isn’t that recaps are supposed to be about? That said, we Tay Roc with a clear win. The Gun Bar King superbly (i.e. classic) using a snitch angle (that literally dropped in his lap before the battle) on opponent Kyd Slade in round 1 via a gang of well-crafted smiles (everything from the dizzying ‘witness protection’ bar to the killer ‘Ah Di Boom/Bigg K’ line at the end), dope storytelling bars and potent personals/wordplay to take an opening round that was as aggressive and heated as we’ve seen on a URL stage without the battle having to be stopped. And while a trap-talking, street rap-lit Slade had a solid 1st as well, Roc’s stellar turn and a couple of slip-ups by Kyd would cost him. The 2nd round was simply a matter of Roc out-punching his opp. This time with a plethora of steely set-up/4-bar punchlines, well-finessed wordplay, residual mayhem, potent drug talk and fiery gun bars that with a slightly more condensed turn equated to a more haymaker-rich and versatile middle round for Roc to earn him the win over another punch-heavy and personal-bent at times, but not nearly as consistent run by Slade. The 3rd round would see Roc go into ‘AMG’ mode and offer up a fire run of speed rap with jaunty punch symmetry. However, it’s a multifaceted Slade, steadily aggressive and head strong with a boatload of piercing punches and hard-hitting personals, who would edge the final round and avoid the shutout.

Verdict: Tay Roc (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Tay Roc – “You talk too much, we can’t be friends…Deborah Cox!”

Verdict: Ryda (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Ryda – “I predicted the future, the Silk one made waves, shit I know what it did, ‘cuz ever since I started fucking all these hoes, I knew eventually I had to come and talk to the kid [Kyd]!”

Kyd Slade defeats Real Name Brandon

Recap: From URL’s recent Initiation 2 card, in a close battle soaked in plenty of hard-hitting trap talk, rigid struggle bars and gritty punchlines from both sides, the slightly more consistently spicy, personal, set-up/storytelling-lit and wordplay heavy Kyd Slade edges rounds 2 and 3 (call round 1 debatable) for the win over Real Name Brandon.

Kyd Slade defeats DG Da Paronta

Recap: From the 1st round of URL’s Ultimate Madness 4 tournament, gotta wonder if DG Da Paronta didn’t adapt his style a little too much attempting to mimic his opponent’s noted ‘Plug Talk’. Still a competitive goodie nonetheless as DG and Kyd Slade split the first couple of rounds, but it’s the rigid street narratives, witty barbs and stinging punches from Slade that allows the CT battler to take the 3rd for the win.

Verdict: Kyd Slade (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Kyd Slade –  “I’m killing everything in the house but the babies, your little man only 12?, then son lucky, ‘cuz when I get go it’s Jordan Retro’s, everything from 13 up get done ugly!”

Kyd Slade defeats Chris Mills

Recap: From iBattleTV, after deadlocking with Chris Mills in round 1, Kyd Slade’s blistering trap talk, gritty storytelling, ill street bars and crispy punchlines offers up a sturdier turn in rounds 2 and 3 to give the CT up-n-comer the win over a competitive and oft-punch/wordplay solid, but not as efficient Mills.

Verdict: Kyd Slade (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Kyd Slade – “My little nigga had an old ass Mac for sale, was kind of rusty but I had to get it, like that’s your bitch?, I’ll place the hit and put a bag on her head like she was ugly but I had to hit it!”

Ru Bando defeats Kyd Slade

Recap: In a close and competitive battle of hardbody rhythms (Kyd Slade) versus a punchline/name flip enthusiast (Ru Bando), the latter wins out as despite an equal amount of haymakers in each of the early rounds, one too many dry spots by Slade gave Bando the edge in both. The 3rd round, kept an already entertaining matchup captivating as each battler not only kept their pen game sharp, but utilized tag-ins that while being more to Bando’s benefit, still made for a debatable round what with Slade doing more on his own.

Verdict: Ru Bando (W) 2-1

But a too short round 2 and a case of stumbles in round 1 by Slade along with consistently fiery lines and relentless (“And he front on me bully style, liek he got the grip? watch how fast I support your clothing line…[flexes hand like punch] and rock your shit!”) punches/schemes across the board from Jerry gives Wess a well-earned 3-0.

Verdict: Jerry Wess (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Jerry Wess – “I’ll walk up right up to your whip, like you asked directions, and beat the bricks off this nigga…he won’t pass inspection!”

Favorite line: Kyd Slade –  “The gun large and that’s my broad, I feel like Cole rocking with Big Shirley!”
