Confidently dishing a gang of raucous punchlines, gritty gun bars, clever name flips, righteous darts and astute character assassination hits, outside of a close round 1 that she still managed to win via a handful more haymakers, First Lady Flamez dominates in both of the latter rounds of this Black Elite Battle League 3-rounder for the win over a competitive at first, but mostly pedestrian afterwards LL Coogi.

JC defeats LL Coogi

Recap: From Anybody Can Die Battle League, a fierce one-round bout between JC and LL Coogi sees the EFB vet emerge victorious via a relentless onslaught of sharp set-ups, gritty punchlines and mayhem-lit bars. Indeed, JC’s seamless delivery and stirring wordplay would overshadow an opponent who while intense throughout, got off to slow start when it came to the potency of his lines. And while LL would redeem himself with a flurry of hitting punchlines in the latter half of his round, by the end it’d be too late.

Verdict: JC (W) 1-0

Favorite line: JC – “You are not raw, I sell services so efficient, I drop more bodies than I drop calls!”

Chef Trez defeats LL Coogi

Arsonal defeats LL Coogi

Recap: Mostly abandoning the slew of disrespectful heat we’re used to seeing from him for a gang of sublime punchlines, real street talk and boastful bangers that impressed throughout, Arsonal handily beats back a gritty but topsy-turvy LL Coogi for the win in this 1-rounder from The Rap Committee.

Verdict: Arsonal (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Arsonal – “I be stepping stepping, lay him in Dawson’s Creek, see if his soul make it to 7th Heaven!”

Bonnie Godiva defeats LL Coogi

Recap: What’s up with Dot Mobb members getting so agitated when going up against Bonnie Godiva and she spits some crew-laced personals at them (see Bonnie vs. OG Prana)? Either way, despite a pretty solid (tho he did go overboard with the name flips) and gritty performance from LL Coogi, it’s a more condensed, less filler-prone, colorful scheme dishing and punch-heavy Bonnie who edges this Rap Committee 1-rounder for the win.

Verdict: Bonnie Godiva (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Bonnie Godiva – “I am arranging your death, your name Coogi, so I figured something colored would fit!”

B. Magic defeats LL Coogi

Recap: Capped by a gritty flow so sweet you’d probably pay to see him spout gibberish, a consistently punch-lit B. Magic puts on the breaks on opponent LL Coogi (who had his moments, but was mostly so-so here, esp. when using dated personals) with a boatload of haymakers to handily take this 1-rounder from The Rap Committee.

Verdict: B. Magic (W) 1-0

Favorite line: B. Magic – “Bitch, I’m something nice, still hot, Arizona summer nice, this will get your nephew’s fingers cut and your uncle iced!”

Ill Will defeats LL Coogi

Recap: Sizzling name flips, hard-hitting personals, fiery wordplay and raucous gun bars/punchlines, it’s all there for Ill Will and he’d need them all to score enough haymakers and beat back a strong performance from a brazen and witty at times LL Coogi in this competitive 1-rounder from The Rap Committee.

Verdict: Ill Will (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Ill Will – “I wouldn’t put on Coogi if I was Biggie in ’93!”

Th3 Saga defeats LL Coogi

Recap: Gun bar enthusiast LL Coogi always gives a gritty, concerted effort and he certainly provided one here in this GOTG 1-rounder, to go along with a gang of alleged URL drama that’s been talked about on the battle blogs increasingly of late. Still, coupled with an electrifying wrestling bar that capped off a steady stream of consistently bruising punchlines, crazy set-ups, hard-hitting personals and boastful barbs, it’s Th3 Saga who handily gets the win here.

Verdict: Th3 Saga (W) 1-0

Recap: Rum Nitty pulls an Illmaculate, battling twice in one day and doing what Nitty does best: a plethora of blistering gun bars and fiery name flips over the course of one round to beat back an also gun-heavy and pretty solid overall, but elongated and not as consistently punch-heavy LL Coogi.

Verdict: Rum Nitty (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Rum Nitty – “Fuck a 30, I’m trying to drop a .40, like Caine in the liquor store!”

Young Kannon defeats LL Coogi

Recap: In this raucous, punch-heavy, name flip-spazzing, gun bar-slinging and competitive 1-round battle from L.O.E.W.key Battle League, a more steady with the heat Young Kannon beats back the aggressive, but overall less potent stylings of LL Coogi.

Verdict: Young Kannon (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Young Kannon – “Your casket waiting, I brought the cig [sig] for the paper like an affidavit, your dome I’ll push it to the side…I’m a procrastinator!”

Steams defeats LL Coogi

Recap: More condensed overall, name flip efficient, intricate with his punches and also more versatile with the bars, despite struggling with his flow here and there, Steams does just enough to beat back a solid, rebuttal-flipping and punch-heavy, but mostly one-dimensional and less direct showing by LL Coogi in this 1-rounder from JCBL.

Verdict: Steams (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Steams – “Big [B.I.G] nigga and I’ll rock Coogi’s better than anybody!”

LL Coogi defeats 40 B.A.R.R.S.

Recap: Heard 40 B.A.R.R.S. say at least a couple of times now during battles that she just wrote her rhymes last night. And while every battler is different when it comes to preparation, with all the hiccups we see quite often see with 40, one can wonder if not giving herself enough time to practice her rounds contribute to 40’s slip-ups. Still, here in this Universal Bars Battle League 1-round bout with the ever-raucous styling’s of LL Coogi, despite a couple slip-ups, 40’s pen still makes its mark with a bunch of fire punches and name flips. Yet, while he did end up rapping twice as longer as his opponent, Coogi’s lengthy turn of spicy gun bars, vivid set-ups, dope personals and hardbody punches are stretched out and hitting enough to edge things here.

Verdict: LL Coogi (W) 1-0

Favorite line: LL Coogi – “Your career can’t afford this, this L about to be large and enormous, they gonna ask me how I got my groove back with 40…a stellar [Stella] performance!”

LL Coogi defeats Prez Mafia

Recap: With Prez Mafia spazzing in the first round with a healthy mix of stinging wordplay and potent (“Nigga, get at me kid and get a nasty cig…it’s a Marlboro!”) punchline that were backed by an ill performance to edge a loaded pound-for-pound repertoire of fierce gun bars by his opponent LL Coogi, you couldn’t help but think that Mr. Woosah was on his way to an easy win over the aggressive up-n-comer. But then things got shaky…literally. As after an elongated 2nd round from Coogi that contained a few (“Nigga, you had the Space to Jam, but decided to be a Monstar!”) shiners here and there, it was midway through the middle round that Prez just started stumbling, eventually losing the round after a couple of weak attempts to freestyle. The last and deciding round saw a more versatile Coogi continue to dish mayhem, displaying some nice resiliency by scoring with more and more lofty gun lines before Mafia, whose experience alone gave him a decent chance at still winning, surprisingly choked his round away midway through the round and cost himself the battle.

Verdict: LL Coogi (W) 2-1

Favorite line: LL Coogi – “Nigga, a brand new serial on the strap, I scratched the code off, wait for your ass to take a seat, then take the load off!”
