Recap: A bit of an oldie from Street Status, but a 3-rounder between MVP and Chef Trez that was still a goodie as the former’s plethora of gritty punches and rich similes kept things close and even had him edging the opening round. However, with an always prepared Trez rocking the crowd and his opponent with a consistent barrage of piercing name flips, spicy rebuttals, fiery gun bars, sizzling punchlines and to top things off, a crazy freestyle coming off a mid-round fight that broke out in the crowd in round 3, it’s the Chef who delivers more than enough treats to take rounds 2 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Real Name Brandon defeats MVP

Recap: That “Yoshi G., I’m a battle rapper now, are you fucking?!” bar by MVP in the 1st round of this Ultimate Madness 4 tournament final at Summer Madness 11 was fire. But other than that and some gritty/witty lines here and there throughout the battle, one too many subpar similes by the St. Louis battler and a Real Name Brandon who stood tall throughout this championship bout with a gang of sublime local references/heaters that played extra well with the Houston crowd, piercing punchlines and boastful barbs to go along with a spitfire, punch/storytelling-lit and nostalgic 3rd round that the Pasadena, CA, battler dedicated to his grandmother, equated to a hat trick for RNB.

Verdict: Real Name Brandon (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Real Name Brandon – “Let you walk away with this bread, I’ll spin the block quick, Glock lift, he gonna be dying to get out of Houston…DeShaun Watson!”

MVP defeats Truth Watson

Recap: Sticking with a plethora of hardbody punches, braggadocio zingers and greasy personals that while not too over the top, still made their point, St. Louis’ MVP edges the first two rounds of this URL SM4 matchup for the win over a mostly pedestrian, just-happy-to-be-here Truth Watson before gaining the 30 thanks in part to his opponent choking in the 3rd.

Verdict: MVP (W) 3-0

Favorite line: MVP –  “You are nothing, just wasted space…like a frat house!”

DNA defeats MVP

Recap: 1-rounder from Street Status features a cocky and solid with the bars, but elongated and a bit reach-heavy MVP succumb to DNA’s more potent punchlines, a couple of nice rebuttals and flashy gun bars/name flips.

Verdict: DNA (W) 1-0

Favorite line: DNA – “You said you put 30s into 16 like statutory rape?, well that bar deadly, I’ll remix it, I’ll put 40 in 16, I’m R. Kelly!”

Chilla Jones defeats MVP

Recap: Once again, an elongated Chilla Jones. But even against a solid and sometimes witty showing by MVP, the versatility with the punchlines or more notably, the flexing name flips from Mr. Jones edges this 1-rounder from Street Status.

Verdict: Chilla Jones (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Chilla Jones – “I’m fucking cutthroat, I’ll put a couple slices up besides his neck, one blade could make his future look different, I guess that’s the Butterfly Effect!”
