Recap: A dope 2nd round (littered with a bunch of witty personals and a spicy rebuttal) from MyVerse, but in this URL ‘Outside’ 3-rounder against Ms. Hustle, the Florida emcee (who also had a couple of slip-ups in Rd. 1) was clearly overmatched. As the more condensed Harlem vet, steady throughout with a gang of salacious gun bars, fire set-ups, gritty punchlines, mocking personals and nasty name flips, handily takes rounds 1 and 3 from her punch-profilic, but much less damaging opponent, while also edging the 2nd round with a couple of more haymakers for an impressive 30.
Verdict: Ms. Hustle (W) 3-0
Favorite line: Ms. Hustle – “Tek in a holster, I might drive by with the seats[?] swerving, gang in the street lurking, two guns I’m pet-breeding, bulldog and a mean German!”
Recap: Not sure why anyone would state that Twitter Spaces ‘killed battle rap’ when so many epic arguments between battlers (which literally led to battles), spicy moments and expose’s came out of them. Hell, even the short-term, but classic Midnight Madness league wouldn’t have happened without Twitter Spaces, an audio chat room that would also spark this battle as who can’t remember First Lady Flamez screaming tirade on MyVerse’s rapping ability on TS last year? And for 3 rounds, Flamez more than backed up her rant. The Richmond, Virginia spitter never taking her foot off the gas while utilizing a steady stream of hard-hitting punches/similes, fire name flips, fiending gun bars, dapper street shit and rigid wordplay to score a 30 over an opponent who surprisingly enough put more points on the board with her witty personals (esp. in round 2 which was Verse’s best by far) and a couple of fly schemes than her punches which too often then not were pretty pedestrian and elongated especially when it came to the set-up.
Verdict: First Ladt Flamez (W) 3-0
Favorite line: First Lady Flamez – “I’ll knock the soul out this bitch and let it talk to y’all, then at her funeral MyVerse will be a monologue!”
Recap: Judging from MyVerse and Th3 Saga surprisingly writing their 3rd round (thus, we’ll just call the finale a tie) together in this Barstool Compliment battle, I’m guessing that both of them could care less about getting the win. But it’s all about competition here and despite MyVerse doing a pretty solid job hyping up her opponent throughout rounds 1 and 2, it’s a little more original (esp. when it came to doing his research on his opp’s background), wordplay/name flip-lit, condensed, witty and punch-heavy Saga who edges both of the aforementioned rounds for the win.
Verdict: Th3 Saga (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Th3 Saga – “I would hate for this round to go flat and cause despair, but allow the leader of The Horsemen to uplift a queen like Charlotte Flair!”
Recap: MyVerse is such an anomaly. Has the skills and wants to sit at the table and eat with the top tier female battle rappers, but always has an excuse not to battle one of them. Still, after yet another long hiatus away from battle rap, as clearly seen here in this Rap Committee 1-round matchup against Chetta, the ‘Sex Symbol’ can still rap her ass off. Whether sporting some dope multi’s or a bunch of fiery punchlines or some gritty name flips and witty/mocking personals, even during a round that was a little longwinded, versus the repeated bully bars and aggressive mayhem from her opponent that at times became a little redundant, the versatile Verse delivers more than enough heat to earn the win.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 1-0
Favorite line: MyVerse – “You’ve had that twinkie up in your purse for weeks, it’s only right for a fat bitch to feeding her insecurity!”
Recap: A returning-to-the-battle-stage MyVerse versus RX on KOTD turns out to be a tale of two entirely different halves. As after dominating the first round with banging soliloquies, stinging braggadocios lines and jaunty punchlines/name flips, RX follows up her spicy opening round with another lyrically sharp and (“You’ve been idol, but I still recognize your talent Queen, we both used to do ballet, but I grew up [points arms out like shooting a gun] to balance beams!) punch-heavy turn in the 2nd that keeps her well out in front of her solid at times, but inconsistent opponent. But then a rusty-at-first MyVerse was suddenly replaced by the solidified and in-her-bag MyVerse we last saw taking Bonnie Godiva, dishing a trio of fiery rebuttals to start off her 2nd round, before seguing to aggressively (“She a pawn, I’m trying to stack bigger pieces, how you a stare master [stair master] in the face, but your ass really need it?!”) taunting personals, nifty schemes/name flips, some unorthodox, but lofty wordplay, witty barbs and a gang of flexing punchlines to comeback and edge the middle round, before (with the help of a choke by RX) easily taking the deciding 3rd round with more of the aforementioned artillery as the previous round and stamping her return to the ring.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “When it comes to looks alone, I find it troublesome, how you say you top 3 but got the struggle bum!”
Recap: After a 1st round choke to MyVerse here in this 3-rounder from Don’t Flop, Villun makes an impressive comeback, using a steady stream of nifty punchlines and piercing personals during a spitfire 2nd round and pretty solid 3rd to make this one competitive. But in the end with MyVerse (who incredibly was battling for the 2nd time in one day) handily taking the first round thanks in part to her versatile palette of hitting punches/personals/boasts and earning a tie in the 3rd with a more condensed turn that was highlighted by a spicy freestyle to start things off, Villun’s inability to win both of the latter rounds after his choke, ends up costing him here.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “Gas him then his grill will leak, if this pussy think’s to speak, that’s a soliloquy!”
Recap: Pretty sure battling twice in one day (she also went head-to-head with Villun) had something to do with it, but a clearly-not-on-her-A-game MyVerse, while dishing some quality punches, rebuttals and witty zingers here and there, still didn’t have enough quality bars or consistency to keep up with the hilarity that ensued from the admittedly not ‘clever’ Oshea, but over-the-top with the misogynistic jokes, rich storytelling and witty personals in this entertaining 3-rounder from Don’t Flop.
Verdict: Oshea (W) 3-0
Favorite line: Oshea – “How come these bitches can survive childbearing, but not a single one of them can take a punch?!”
Recap: You want personals? Well, it doesn’t get much better than this as Bonnie Godiva and MyVerse, each battling for the 1st time on the URL stage, dish a host of insults, tall battle rapper behind-the-scene sex tales and other noteworthy gossip on who’s done who that kept the crowd highly entertained throughout. MyVerse takes the first round with more consistency, dope (“Just because you wear horse hair won’t make a black beauty!”) schemes/punches and variety on in her pen game, to take nothing away from Bnnnie whose name (“I don’t got a ghostwriter, the fuck I look like waiting on MyVerse [my verse]”) flips and personals hit at times, but weren’t delivered with the same uniformity and bite as her opponent. Second round clearly went to Bonnie, who stepped up with an elongated, but consistently fiery round that opened a literal Pandora’s box to MyVerse’s personal life, cell phone footage (“4 years ago you was fucking another battle rapper in his t-shirt, with no panties on?!”; “You was fucking Mad illz?, Bitch, Mad Illz?!?, I’m mad…ill!!!”) included. Going into the last round tied, both battle rappers came with it. Bonnie using some ill wordplay, bully (“I’ll smack this bitch on the bathroom floor, now she Versatile!”) bars and even (“Keep talking about Born in my last battle, I might have flashbacks and start choking Verse!”) self-deprecating humor to deliver a pretty solid round that would’ve won most battles if not for MyVerse’s more heated session that steady delivered on the haymakers, crazy (“I’m from East Orlando, but I could show you the West Palm [west palm]!”) set-ups/punchlines and animated (“You literally put everything but your vag on display, you’re one selfie away from catching AIDS!”) personals.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “I got that Erykah Badu pussy, you got that airing out a room pussy!”
Recap: Well, after watching this battle, at least we learned a few new things about Star Smilez: she has a Best Buy job to back up her battle rap career, wardrobe-wise she can definitely change it up and dress for the occasion and when she puts forth the effort, like she did during a Dot Mobb-lit and punch-heavy 3rd round, she can certainly rap with some of the best of her fellow Queens. Too bad for Star tho, this battle versus MyVerse was 3 rounds instead of one as Mrs. Smilez would get a handily beat in the previous rounds by the Sandra Bullock lookalike, who while not quite on her A-game and a bit elongated at times, still spouted enough boastful spinners, extra witty personals and heavy-handed punchlines to get the win.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “I don’t believe guts are going up to you and you’re rejecting them, against C3 you wore a skirt so we could decipher who’s the lesbian!”
Recap: Adding lofty multi’s and sporadic doses of wit to an already hefty bar game, MyVerse would need it all here in this Queen of the Ring match against the flexing gun bars and boastful shiners of Cee The Boss. Indeed, a competitive, raucous, wordplay-lit, name flip-savvy and lyrical crowd-pleasing battle throughout, it’d be a spitfire 3rd (which included a dope freestyle to start things off) from MyVerse, that showcased all of her versatility, that’d prove to be the difference in the end.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “Leave you with no feeling like you need acrylic!”
Recap: Outside of a 2nd round choke from Melato Black, both and opponent MyVerse were able to display a consistent and fiery stream of adept lyricism in this Sparring Sessions battle brought to you from Queen of the Ring. But the telling Hip-Hop feen that is MyVerse, delivering nothing but steady heat via hardbody punches, sporty girl-power darts, stinging personals and some charming wordplay/schemes, takes each round handily on her way to a shutout.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 3-0
Favorite line: MyVerse – “I rather expose how you wouldn’t flex if you could, in her neighborhood she’s called the Neck of the Wood!”
Recap: Able to display more versatility with her bars and out-punch her raucous, but mostly pedestrian opponent Dutchess for the first two rounds, before getting edged in the round 3, an ever aggressive, witty and wordplay/personal-lit MyVerse earned the win in this 3-rounder from VoiceBox Battles.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “At home, she think the goons gonna be taking a shot…out here, you could get killed by Neighborhood Watch!”
Recap: Pulling out a mean bag of spicy punchlines, some piercing personals and well executed mayhem/wordplay, MyVerse doesn’t break a sweat in beating back a solid-punching, but nowhere-near-as-potent Ill V in her debut battle on Voicebox Battles.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 3-0
Favorite line: MyVerse – “And her music is nonexistent…like V’s neck!”
