Recap: A couple of Winston-Salem, NC, battlers, Glueazy and Punchline, go at it for one round on Body Bag Battle League and its the way more punch-lit Glu who takes it on the end. The Smack vet using a bunch of mocking personals, rigid gun lines, righteous heaters and some brutal mayhem/name flips to handily get the win and keep his stamp on his hometown.
Verdict: Glueazy (W) 1-0
Favorite line: Glueazy – “I like Punch, I’ll spike Punch…[points arm out like a gun] pour the 5th in him!”
Recap: Much credit to Punchline for living up to his moniker, what with a handful of fiery (“He say he want to quit tobacco, but the cig I got ain’t peer pressure!”; “This .45 I call special, by far, even tho it’s next to Nunn [none]!”) punches that made this one-rounder versus Nunn Nunn competitive. However, an elongated round filled with too many standard jabs by Punchline, along with a couple of crazy rebuttals by Nunn Nunn, who when he wasn’t spitting winsome (“Bitch, you winning?, disrespect, you just talking out of ass, like Eddie Murphy on Shrek!”) heat and witty personals, kept the crowd hyped with some potent (“I’m a ticket scalper with bad seats, I give out cheap nose-bleeds!”) wordplay, would give the URL vet an impressive win.
Verdict: Nunn Nunn (W) 1-0
Favorite line: Nunn Nunn – “We smell the doep on your breathe, you’ll hit a quarter on the glass, you’re Manigault with the meth!”
Recap: Except for a debatable 2nd round that saw Punchline’s fixed cadence produce some hotter punches/schemes, this one’s all Brooklyn Carter, who uses a barrage of aggressive and gritty bars/wordplay to unload a host of bedlam and easily take the 1st and 3rd round’s of this NCBL battle.
Verdict: Brooklyn Carter (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Brooklyn Carter – “You don’t want this kind of work, you should clock out when I clock in, it only took 4 lines to leave him boxed in!”
Recap: Appreciate the come up as in a battle of local North Carolina emcees, T Top takes out Punchline with a fiery performance that’s ably backed by winsome (“I came with a black-ass trigger, a 4-5, the kick back made me smack my nigga!”) dramedy, dope schemes and clever wordplay
Verdict: T Top (W) 3-0
Favorite line: T Top – “Nasty with a noose, at no time his neck could fit, I thought he was dead, but it was hanging on his second chin”
