Recap: From RBE, clearly on a mission to showcase her lyrical dexterity and remind everyone that she’s not just about the disrespect, for a trio of rounds QB uses a fiery barrage of gritty wordplay, piercing schemes. witty personals and hardbody punchlines to score more haymakers, take rounds 1 and 3 for the win and beat back a pretty solid, versatile (esp. during a round 2 that she edged with a couple of dope rebuttals) and name flip-lit effort from RX.
Verdict: QB (W) 2-1
Favorite line: QB – “We had a time I wanted to front like she creeping up, then it’d be Birdman collabo’s, I’m fucking every single feature up!”
Recap: Outside of an opening round where a way more punch-heavy Jaz The Rapper handily earned the win, it’s a close Create For You 3-rounder here between Jaz and RX. The Compton, California native using a fire rebuttal and a plethora of hard-hitting/witty personals (while also taking advantage of a flow-challnged Jaz) to take the second round and tie things up,before a more versatile, righteous and consistently punchline-lit Jaz (who did this battle only a week after battling Charlie Clips) takes round 3 for the win.
Verdict: Jaz the Rapper (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Jaz The Rapper – “Then I’m a stab her and y’all gonna witness me poking her up, see my women’s intuition told me go with the gut!”
Recap: A mayhem-rich Gattas, after surviving a punch-heavy, versatile and stellar round 1 from RX, ups the ante a little bit while staying consistent with the stifling wordplay, rigid name flips, boastful barbs and wicked punchlines to edge the latter two rounds and get the win in this competitive 3-rounder from KOTD.
Verdict: Gattas (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Gattas – “Be easy, it ain’t a eye job when I’m rolling by, ‘cuz on the Wst I ride with a cartridge in my ’64 like I’m Golden Eye!”
Recap: Pretty congenial, intergender, gender reveal battle between West-elite’s Geechi Gotti and RX has a more theme pointed, personal, witty and wordplay-heavy Gotti scoring with enough flair (after a debatable 1st) to take both the 2nd and 3rd rounds and beat back a mostly solid and lyrically sharp run by his opponent.
Verdict: Geechi Gotti (W) 2-1
Favorite line: Geechi Gotti – “I mean, think about it, I ain’t choosing for y’all, but I think action figures are way much cooler than dolls!”
Recap: A returning-to-the-battle-stage MyVerse versus RX on KOTD turns out to be a tale of two entirely different halves. As after dominating the first round with banging soliloquies, stinging braggadocios lines and jaunty punchlines/name flips, RX follows up her spicy opening round with another lyrically sharp and (“You’ve been idol, but I still recognize your talent Queen, we both used to do ballet, but I grew up [points arms out like shooting a gun] to balance beams!) punch-heavy turn in the 2nd that keeps her well out in front of her solid at times, but inconsistent opponent. But then a rusty-at-first MyVerse was suddenly replaced by the solidified and in-her-bag MyVerse we last saw taking Bonnie Godiva, dishing a trio of fiery rebuttals to start off her 2nd round, before seguing to aggressively (“She a pawn, I’m trying to stack bigger pieces, how you a stare master [stair master] in the face, but your ass really need it?!”) taunting personals, nifty schemes/name flips, some unorthodox, but lofty wordplay, witty barbs and a gang of flexing punchlines to comeback and edge the middle round, before (with the help of a choke by RX) easily taking the deciding 3rd round with more of the aforementioned artillery as the previous round and stamping her return to the ring.
Verdict: MyVerse (W) 2-1
Favorite line: MyVerse – “When it comes to looks alone, I find it troublesome, how you say you top 3 but got the struggle bum!”
Recap: A wide array of piercing punchlines, crazy set-ups, stinging name flips, hard-hitting (“That box is past its Prime, you ship it out daily like Amazon!”) personals, hometown angles and wordplay-savvy zingers from Bonnie Godiva and RX makes for a dope battle here on the KOTD stage. Yet, in light of the slightly more overall punch-heavy RX taking round 2 after a debatable 1st, behind a round going into the 3rd, a spitfire, mid-round rebuttal by Bonnie would highlight a head-ringing turn that allowed the NY femcee to win the final round and make this battle a draw.
Verdict: Debatable
Favorite line: Bonnie Godiva – “Abortions are a women’s right…and honestly, you should try it!”
